  7. Books  are  great,  I`ll  have none of
  8. this "Reading is boring!" crap because
  9. books fill the imagination.

  11. Now some books are really crap such as
  12. Wuthering     heights     and     Lady
  13. Chatterley's  lover.   These books are
  14. supposed  to be classic literature but
  15. personally  I  think that Emily Bronte
  16. should   have   been   shot  and  Lady
  17. Chatterley  is  about  as erotic as my
  18. armpits after karate.

  29. Any  road  up, this review is gonna be
  30. on  a  bloke called Raymond E.  Feist.
  31. Feist   has  written  the  spectacular
  32. Magician  series  and he is one of the
  33. best  fantasy  novelists since Tolkien
  34. (Who  was  good  but  far  too  dull!)
  35. Feist`s  books  are well worth getting
  36. hold  of  as  they employ all the best
  37. bits  of  fantasy whilst still keeping
  38. with real life.

  46.  
  47. {A{9This was Feist's first novel, it tells
  48. the  story  of Pug, an orphan boy, who
  49. finds  himself  apprentice to a master
  50. magician.   Alien  warriors called the
  51. Tsurani    (pronounced    (silent   T)
  52. SooRanee)  invade  Pug's  world and he
  53. finds  himself  captured and taught to
  54. be  a  magician  on  the  alien world.
  55. Meanwhile, Pug's friend, Tomas becomes
  56. the  owner  of  a  magical  sword  and
  57. armour  of  the  mighty  Ashen-Shugar,
  58. last of the Valheru, an evil race that
  59. lived  on  Midkemia (Pug's and Tomas's
  60. planet)  a millenia ago.  Ashen Shugar
  61. cared  about  the world and refused to
  62. go and fight the Gods like the rest of
  63. his  kin did and when the Valheru lost
  64. and   were   banished,   Ashen  Shugar
  65. remained on Midkemia and freed all the
  66. slaves  of  the  Valheru  and left his
  67.  
  68.  
  69. armour  knowing  one  day  it would be
  70. picked   up  by  a  new  lord.   Tomas
  71. becomes  like  Ashen  Shugar with some
  72. really  brilliant  flash  backs to the
  73. time of the Valheru and the chaos wars
  74. which  they  lost.   Lots of sub plots
  75. exist in this book like Arutha, Prince
  76. of   Crydee,   going  to  the  western
  77. capital   of  Krondor  to  rescue  his
  78. cousin Anita and lots of others.  This
  79. book  is  brilliant  and now it's in a
  80. revised  form  too  so  it's  an  even
  81. better bargain.

  92.  
  93. {A{9This  is the sequal to Magician.  This
  94. story  is  about  Arutha journeying to
  95. find  a  plant  called The Silverthorn
  96. that will bring his beloved Anita back
  97. to  life  after she has been shot by a
  98. poison   crossbow.    The  story  also
  99. brings    in   the   strange   prophet
  100. Murmandumas  who  leads the dark elves
  101. and seems intent on bringing about the
  102. death   of   Arutha   to  fulfil  some
  103. prophecy  that  will see the return of
  104. his  masters.   Silverthorn  is a very
  105. enjoyable  book and has some nice bits
  106. of humour throughout.

  114. {I{:A DARKNESS AT SETHANON
  115.  
  116. {A{9The third and the last of the rift war
  117. saga,  tells  the tale of Arutha and a
  118. few  others journeying to finally kill
  119. Murmandamus  who  seeks  to  bring the
  120. Valheru  back  to  Midkemia.   Pug and
  121. Tomas  go  in  search  of  a  sorcerer
  122. called  Macros  the black who can help
  123. them,  one  problem,  Macros seemingly
  124. dies  at the end of Magician.  This is
  125. a  very  good book with a nice ending,
  126. if a little disapointing.

  135. {I{:DAUGHTER OF THE EMPIRE
  136.  
  137. {A{9This  is  the  first book of a trilogy
  138. that Feist wrote with Jenny Wurts.  It
  139. is  set  on the alien world of Kelewan
  140. where  the  Tsurani come from.  It can
  141. be  very boring at times because it is
  142. based  on  political  intrigue  rather
  143. than action.

  148. {A{9This is the second book in the trilogy
  149. written by Feist and Wurts.  This time
  150. the  story  is  half  political,  half
  151. action and is not bad as stories go.

  157. {A{9The  last  and  the best of the Empire
  158. series.   More  action  than the other
  159. two  put  together.   It's a very good
  160. book  but is let down by the fact that
  161. it  is  very  similar to A DARKNESS AT
  162. SETHANON.

  165. {I{:PRINCE OF THE BLOOD
  166.  
  167. {A{9This  book  is  set twenty years after
  168. the rift war and tells the tale of two
  169. princes  journeying  to a foreign land
  170. to  pay  host  to an emporess.  One of
  171. the  princes  goes  missing,  believed
  172. dead,  and  the  other  one  just gets
  173. shagged   all   the   time.    It's  a
  174. different  tale  altogether  from  the
  175. rest  of  Feist's  books and is a very
  176. good book to read.

  184. {A{9The  most  recent book set on Midkemia
  185. is  set  9  years  after PRINCE OF THE
  186. BLOOD  and follows the story of Prince
  187. Nicholas  stopping the snake people in
  188. an  attempt to bring their Mistress, A
  189. Valheru   long   banished,   back   to
  190. Midkemia.   Very  similar  to Magician
  191. but a very good book all the same.

  205. {A{8Feist  has written another book called
  206. FARIE TALE but I only read the first 5
  207. chapters  as it was complete crap.  He
  208. tried to mimic Clive Barker but failed
  209. miserably.   Other  than  that Feist's
  210. books  are  well  worth  reading.  But
  211. with 8 books all based around the same
  212. story  line  if you`re not an avid fan
  213. then you`ll be very bored.
